Novgorod Detinets (Novgorod Kremlin) is one of the oldest fortresses in Russia, which was first mentioned in 1044. Nowadays - the main attraction of Novgorod and the most tourist place.
Shaft and moat of the Okolnoy city are remnants of the external fortification of the Novgorod Kremlin. It surrounds the fortress in about 2 blocks.
In the annals up to the fifteenth century, this defensive belt was called the Ostrog. Later sources call it the Big Round City.
Alley leading to the fortress wall Novgorod Kremlin , the bridge across the moat and the Resurrection Arch (after the name of the once-existing gate church).
On a wide alley, you can rent a bicycle car, for the benefit of which the alley and Victory Square/Sofia is spacious. Yes, the square has a double name, which is very surprising.
Fortress moat Novgorod Kremlin, on the left the fortress wall, the first tower - Zlatoust Tower, the second - Pokrovskaya.
Holy Sophia Temple - the oldest building in Novgorod, was built by the son of Yaroslav the Wise, Grand Prince Vladimir I Roslavovich in 1045-1052.
Murals in the Sofia Cathedral.
The Magdeburg Gate is the battle trophy of the Novgorodians, pressed, probably in 1187, during the march on the Swedish capital Stugnu.
The bell tower St. Sophia Cathedral - a monument of architecture XV — XVIII. It was first mentioned in the chronicles in 1437, when information is given there that the belfry fell during a flood at Volkhov along with the fortress wall.
The building of the religious school, 1878 year. Balcony and "window" - fire!
The building of the religious school. After the October Revolution, the religious school was closed, a revolution museum was located in its building, then district Soviet institutions, and after the war, a city committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. In 1959, the building was overhauled and adapted to a music school.
Secret water gate near Sofia belfry, view of the Volkhov and the restaurant "Flagman" (a la sailboat).
Museum lecture hall "Novgorod Kremlin", once Temple of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem of the mid-18th century. The fact that it was a religious building can be seen from the left side of the apse.
One of the main characters Novgorod - monument" Millennium of Russia ", the monument is set to 1862 year in honor of the thousandth anniversary of Russian statehood. The authors of the monument project are sculptors Mikhail Osipovich Mikeshin and I. N. Schroeder and architect V. A. Hartman.

Museum of Antiquities.
Avant-garde sculptures in front of the Judge Town. From the hay. Well, at least not from manure :)
Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin adjoins the Protection of the Intercession Tower, the first chronicle the mention of the church dates back to 1305, and has since been rebuilt several times.
The church belongs to the type of "octagon on a square" and is one of the few churches of this type that have survived in Novgorod.
Kokuy Tower (Kukui, Kalancha, Kalanchovskaya) - a quadrangular deaf (impassable) tower in the southwestern part of the Novgorod Detinets, built on the principle of "two octal over quadrangle." The tower is crowned with a silvered dome with the ensign of the Novgorod principality, above it a crown and a flower.
Strongly damaged during the war, the tower was restored in the 1960s in the guise of the XVII century.
Church of St. Andrew Stratelates (XIV — XVII cc.)
Sculptures on the territory of the Novgorod Kremlin are very funny, and most importantly - small.
Beach at the walls Novgorod Kremlin on the river bank Volkhov.
Pedestrian (humpback) bridge over the river Volkhov is beautiful!
View of the Novgorod Kremlin and the Sofia Belfry from the Humpback Bridge.
The Sofia Cathedral and the belfry.
Novgorod Regional Philharmonic Society (former Diocesan House, 1912 year built). During the occupation, the Germans staged a stable in the building, breaking through the gate in one of the walls.
The bells of the belfry of St. Sophia Cathedral
A guide in boyar's clothes of the 17th century :) Class! Well, the uncle very fervently told.
Metropolitan's chambers - the building is probably the first third of the XVIII century.
Stone cannonballs, XVII century.
Couplers. Well, I think so. I saw these in Smolensk Kremlin.
Old brickwork.
The Owned (Faceted) Chamber. Picture for seals :) I came across such funny lions in different cities of Russia, for example - in Petrozavodsk and Smolensk.
Window with a wonderful forged grille.
Tourists from China (Korea?). I was very surprised to see roaring crowds of Chinese. To see Russia for them is exotic and Novgorod for them is very interesting for its antiquity. But the problem with guides with knowledge of Chinese and tourists hardly understand anything about the sights and just idly wander around the Kremlin and the city. Mainly in the Kremlin and environs, I did not see them in the city, i.e. they do not know that nishtyakov and attractions in Novgorod very much.
Memorial "Eternal Flame of Glory", 1965, when the whole country began to appear en masse " eternal lights ".
Office Building, built in 1783 - 1786
Florentine Lions guard the entrance to the building. These woolens are widely replicated both in Petersburg (for example, Lobanov-Rostovsky House is) and in the cities Russia. We must make a wish and rub the tails of the lions. Novgorod students have their omen: before the exam you need to come to the King of beasts and rub his paw or nose.
A cool wooden door in the fortress wall.
Tourists walked past me, wife to husband: what is there? - yes some garbage, for 500 rubles. you can touch the falcon.
Judicial Town - a complex of buildings 1785 of the year.
The toilet is beautiful! :) More beautiful only on Dekabristov Square in St. Petersburg.
In an amicable way, only one Kremlin needs a day or two to make out. And I had only 8 hours for the whole Novgorod.
