In 1991, unknown hooligans dropped the bust from the pedestal, when it fell, it collapsed, because it was hollow. The restorers managed to collect all the fragments and restore bust, but the original could not be in the open air due to the large number of gluing. It was decided to make an exact copy of the bust the one that was done in the 1997 year. The original is stored in the Tver Picture Gallery.
In 2004, the bust was again vandalized - his nose was broken.
