Ilushin-2 (Il-2) — best attack plane of the Second World War. This car had super-power armored protection and strong pushechno-machine-gun arms. Structurally it was the monoplane with crew in two persons (the pilot and the marksman for protection of a back hemisphere). Congestion bronelists affected flight qualities and this plane had characteristics, conceding to fighters. Lower ceiling, smaller speed and manoeuvrability but so after all and problems in the field of fight were absolutely others, rather than at fighter aircraft. The word combination appears in the literature «tanks destroyer», that does not represent the facts a little.
Il-2 ground-attack excellently cope with the enemy manpower and vehicles with weak armor, but against tanks was practically powerless. It at all does not belittle fighting qualities of this car and its merit in interaction of combat arms, performance of tactical problems and, finally, in a victory.
