Arts Square (Hudozhestv Square) — the oval area between the Italian and Engineering (Izhenernaya) streets — is designed by architect Rossi, as well as the majority of the buildings creating its ensemble. The main facade of Russian museum (Mihajlovsky palace) leaves on this area. Ensemble of the Square of Arts make as buildings: Mihajlovsky theatre, Theatre Musical Comedy, a museum of ethnography, the Big hall of the Philharmonic society and hotel «Europe» corner. In the centre of small square there is A. S. Pushkin`s monument of work of sculptor M. K. Anikushin. To 1918 year Square was called as Mihajlovskaya, as well as street going to its centre. With 1918 on 1940 — Square of Lassalja. The current name — thanks to surrounding buildings.
